On Thursday been the 20th of February 2014. President Goodluck Jonathan suspended mallam sanusi lamido as the governor of the central bank of nigeria. The suspention was contained in a statement made by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity. Dr. Reuben abati.
Dr. Abati said Jonathan had found out that sanusi's tenure as the CBN governor has been characterized by acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with his administration's vision.
He named a deputy governor of the central bank of nigeria, Dr. Sarah Alade, as the acting governor of the central bank of nigeria. He said Dr. sara alade would be in charge until the conclusion of ongoing investigations in breaches of enabling laws.due process and mandate of the CBN.
